Our Goal

Our goal is to produce tomatoes in the most sustainable way, especially in winter. With the excellent light conditions, naturally warm water, and short logistic routes we have a great opportunity to do so.

Our target is improving working standards! In other words, living standards! Many local people are eager to work for us because we are guaranteeing workers’ rights, giving them the opportunity to express themselves.

Therefore, it comes the role of Desert Joy elected worker committee that aims to defend and promote employees’ interests at work. Its members are elected by and from among all the workers and hold their mandate for two years. Its powers and responsibilities include the right to negotiate company or workplace agreements; the right to information or consultation on financial, commercial, and labor matters; responsibility for supervising and monitoring compliance with regulations on labor matters, social security, employment health and safety; and the right to take administrative and legal action. Its members must keep professional confidentiality.

Philip Van Antwerpen

For Agro Care, borders have never really existed. Not even on a map. Right from the start, founders Philip van Antwerpen and Kees van Veen chose to start growing outside the Westland region, in Zeeland and the northern part of North Holland. And now Agro Care's tomatoes even come from Tunisia. Philip: 'It may not be an obvious choice, but it is a location that is logistically convenient. Tunisia has more hours of sunshine in the winter than Spain and a better climate than Morocco.

Najib Zarrouk

I’m the Tunisian partner of Desert Joy project, I’m an agriculture engineer and I started work with the agriculture ministry since 1980. In 1987 I started building my own green house and now in 2023, I have around 35 years old of experience in this field. I aim to participate in a national development of agriculture sector with my partners team from Agro Care.

Ala Eddine Chairat

Agricultural engineer, I joined Desert Joy on 2013, as grower assistant, and now I occupy the position of Senior site Manager grower&labor and I manage 40 hectares of green houses.

Salem Adouni

My name is Salem Adouni I'm the head of the technical Department responsible about maintenance constructions and transport I joined Desert Joy since the beginning.

Location manager quality, certification and pack house

Ines Zairi

Agricultural engineer, I had the major of crop production sciences and crop protection. I joined Desert Joy on December 2014, as Manager of pack station and it was the first year of sorting and exporting for the company, and now I occupy the position of site quality manager , certification and pack house.

Site Administration and Finance manager

Mohamed Najjar Nasfi

Mohamed Najar Nasfi Finance and accounting diploma, I joined Desert Joy in September 2018 as financial manager. Actually, I am the site Administration and Finance manager .
